KIU, Main Campus cā¬ā?? President Yoweri Museveni, during his
presidential address on the state of COVID-19 in Uganda, outrightly denounced suppliers
of foodstuffs who are hoarding goods so as to sell when the prices go up.
After expressing his disappointment towards them by
mentioning his intolerance for cā¬Ė?selfish peoplecā¬ā?c, he threatened to start
importing goods which in the long run would cause the hoarders to lose out.
cā¬Å?There is not enough maize or beans because people are
withholding it from the market. They are hoarding it,cā¬ the President said.
cā¬Å?If I hear that there is not enough maize or beans on the
market, if I just get a whisper that the food is not enough, then I will just
import and forget about you because you are crooks trying to take advantage of
your people,cā¬ he added.
Museveni warned that if suppliers continue hoarding, they
will instead end up with rotten goods as he will instead opt to import cheaper
foods from other countries.
