KIU, Main Campus - Regarding the opening of schools, scientists have appealed to the President to wait till all learners are vaccinated so as to minimize the risk of spreading Coronavirus amongst themselves.

This decision was arrived at during a parliamentary cabinet meeting that was held on Monday, 2nd February, 2021.

On the other hand however, learners continue to remain anxious as it is still not clear as to when they will get back to school.

Responding to all this, Dr. Kiiza Besigye expressed his view on Twitter saying, "Dysfunctional NRM/M7 Junta hasn’t figured out how students in Uganda can resume classes - 10 months after lockdown!"

He also added to say that the President has endangered our children's future since learners can neither access online education as a result of challenges of ICT access.

Regarding this issue therefore, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to address the public on Wednesday, 3rd February, 2021 so as to make an official announcement as to when schools will open.
