Hamisi Swalehe Mahanga told this website that the club is being launched with the goal of spreading the Swahili language among the students studying at Western Campus.
“The main goal of forming the Swahili club is to spread Swahili language among the students who are studying at KIU Western Campus,” Mahanga said.
“Also, because Swahili is the official language of the East African Community, it will facilitate easier communication among students from East African countries,” he added.
He also revealed that the launch, which is expected to be attended by over 500 guests, will be graced by the ambassador of the Tanzanian High Commission in Uganda Dr. John Stephen Simbachawene, who has been invited as chief guest.
