The Late Maj. Gen.Lokech to be Laid to Rest on Thursday

KIU, Main Campus - The late Maj. Gen. Paul Lokech will on Thursday be laid to rest at his ancestral home in Pader Town Council as discussed by his family and security during a meeting at his home in Kira, Namugongo.

Maj. Gen. Lokech specially known for his military achievements such as the great success against the Al-Shabaab and capturing key historical places like the Red Mosque in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu, the then Brigadier Lokech was nicknamed the ‘Lion of Mogadishu’.

He later passed on at his home in Kitikifumba, Kira Town, Wakiso district on 21st August 2021 at the age of 55 after suffering a fatal, sudden, massive, bilateral pulmonary embolus.

Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga said there will be a night vigil at the deceased's home in Kiira Municipality to mourn his sudden demise before his body leaves Kampala for burial in Pader District.

This Tuesday, a requiem service will be held at his new home in Kira, Namugongo, Kira Municipality, in Wakiso district.

Later, "Gen Lokech will be buried at his ancestral home in Pader Town Council on Thursday," confirmed Enanga.
