My name is Demmiele Matu Kiiza, and I am a Medical Anthropologist and Doctoral Researcher at the University of Helsinki, Finland. My academic journey began in 2006 when I joined Kampala International University (KIU) for a Bachelor's degree in Guidance and Counselling, having previously earned a diploma in Secondary Education from Kyambogo University.

The introduction of Distance Learning at KIU provided me with a unique opportunity to work while pursuing my studies. Despite facing financial challenges, which led to an additional year of study, I successfully graduated in 2012. Subsequently, I advanced my academic career by completing a Master's degree in Medical Anthropology at Gulu University.

KIU laid a strong foundation for my research aspirations, and I am grateful for the opportunities it provided. As I continue my doctoral research at the University of Helsinki, I aspire to serve as a bridge between Finnish universities and KIU, facilitating academic collaborations in various fields. I firmly believe that a better world can be created when individuals are empowered to reach their full potential, and I see KIU playing a crucial role in realizing this vision.

In the future, I hope to reconnect with the KIU community and contribute to its growth and success, as I continue to support initiatives that foster educational exchange and academic development.
