KIU, Main Campus - The KIU soccer team had their last serious training in preparation for travel to Mbale ahead of their last group stage match in this year’s Pepsi University League, with IUIU on Thursday, 12th March 2020.

KIU is in the second position in group B, below UCU who also travel to Kumi on the same day, by a difference of just one goal. Wins from both sides could see them through to the next round. Although, according to Jackson Muwanguzi, the KIU team captain, their main goal is to progress to the next level as group leaders.

‘’We are not just aiming at progressing to the next level, we want to proceed as group leaders that is why Thursday’s game is a must win," Jackson said.

However, there are worries that the team may travel with only a few spectators because of the distance from Kampala to Mbale. According to the team manager, Joshua Kasaija, a final program will be released by the sports department for whoever wishes to travel with the team.

The best two teams from each group will proceed to the knockout phase which also includes two legged ties.
