KIU Main Campus - Kampala International University hosted an In-service students' orientation on Friday, January 10th, 2025 with the aim of welcoming new and continuing students to the institution.

Held at the 6th floor of the Iddi Bassajjabala Memorial Library, the event was Spearheaded by Campus Administrator Christine Ainebyoona.

"KIU is going digital, and we want to ensure that all students are on board," said Ainebyoona, emphasizing the importance of creating student portals. "Create student portals and register yourselves such that you are able to access your results and track your tuition clearance status."

Ainebyoona also announced a 50% bursary for teachers enrolling at KIU for the January and April intakes. "We want to provide the best treatment for our teaching students," she explained.

Dr. Irene Muriithi, Director of Quality Assurance, shared her personal story of transitioning from a teacher to a lecturer and PhD holder. "You can become anything you want," she encouraged the students.

In a bid to prepare students for the semester, Dr. Gidraf Joseph Wanjala, Principal of the College of Education Open, Distance and E-Learning (CEODL), emphasized the importance of understanding course materials and revising for exams.

"Make sure you understand your material and revise it so that you are prepared for exams," he stressed.

Dr. Immaculate Emurugat Azabo, Head of the Department, of Arts and Sciences Education, reminded students to notify the university about any deferrals or missing lecturers to avoid issues of missing marks and missing papers.

"When you get a dead year, we need you to let us know. Even when you come back, let us know so that we can follow up and reinstate you," she added.

With the new year in sight, the university is just as ever focused on academic excellence, student support, professional development, and providing a transformative educational experience for its students.
