AHMED JOWALIE WAMPANDE is an Assistant Lecturer at the College of Economics and Management at Kampala International University (KIU) where he performs Experiential teaching of students on the tourism program, invigilates, marks and submits examination results every semester, and even offers pastoral care to students who need guidance. Prior to that, he was the General Manager at Hotel Brovad Limited where he successfully trained both new and existing staff on hospitality and tourism best practices, increased guest patronage that had declined due to poor service, and evidently reduced the staff turnover rate. He has also worked as a Restaurant Manager at the Kampala Serena Hotel where he successfully ran the restaurant on strict costs ceilings per day, managed over 60 staff of diverse cultures in a harmonious way, and standardized presentation with the executive chef.
Ahmed holds a Master of science Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management, and a Bachelor of Leisure and Hospitality Management which he obtained at Makerere University in 2011 and 2005 respectively. His competences lie in paying attention to detail, building and leadng teams, good communication skills, active listening, and excellent time management.
He successfully organised the Tourism Expo 2012 in Jinja, ably developed tourist guiding literature about the different attractions in the region whilst creating awareness about the different attractions in the region, and successfully lobbied for the Jinja- Stockholm collaboration that saw some buildings in Jinja town get a facelift. He has been the Lead Consultant with Ivy’s Hotel Staff Training Project, and is currently the Consultant at Mokka Terrace Restaurant and Coffee House where he has enabled staff to get exposure in hotels like the Kampala Serena Hotel Kampala, The Sheraton Hotel Kampala, and Silver Springs Hotel Bugolobi.
Ahmed is a proud member of the Busoga Tourism Initiative, the Uganda Hotel Workers’ Union, Makerere University Hospitality Students Association, and the Marketing Students Association of Makerere University.
