Dr. Bola Christie Atulomah is the Assistant Chief University Librarian at the Iddi Basajjabalaba Memorial Library (IBML), Kampala International University, Kampala, Uganda. Has over twenty years continuous cognate work experience in academic libraries. Dr Atulomah has a BA (Hons) in Modern European Language (Russian), possess two Masters’ Degrees, one of them in Library, Archival and Information Studies, having attended the prestigious University of Ibadan Library School, Master in Personnel Psychology (MPP) of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Nigeria, Certificates in Data Processing and in several other training courses. She has a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Library, Archival and Information Studies at the University of Ibadan. A strong member of the Nigerian Library Association, (member preservation and conservation (PAC) chapter, former secretary Medical Librarian Association (MLA) chapter, one-time Chairperson Association of Women Librarians (AWLIN), Osun State chapter, member Association of Commonwealth Archives and Records Managers (ACARM) among others.
She served as University Librarian in Adeleke University Ede (successfully completed her 5 year tenure), after serving as a Deputy University Librarian in Babcock University for five years also; prior to this, she was the foundation Head of Department for the Information Resources Management programme which today, is a full-fledged department in the School of Management and Social Sciences of the same university. As a librarian, she is very innovative and hardworking and have sterling leadership qualities. Her administrative and leadership qualities were apparent when she became the HOD (in a pioneering capacity) in the Department of Education and General Studies, Deputy Librarian in Babcock University and as a University Librarian in Adeleke University in 2002, 2006 and 2011 respectively and successfully completed her tenures in each case. Dr Atulomah have significant experience as a professional librarian at the university level and at the National Archives in Ibadan, possess information technology capabilities, adept at various software packages including word processing, database management systems, spread sheet, and library automation systems. she has also been involved in teaching at undergraduate and post-graduate levels in the field of library and Information Resources Management. She has also supervised and co-supervised doctoral and master’s students. She had oversight position during budget planning and implementation; development and management of the library’s print collections; the development and management of the library’s database system and IT networks as well as staff recruitment, supervision, promotion, training and administration respectively. In all these, her competencies were demonstrated significantly.
