Dr. Faith Nakalema is a Counseling Psychologist, Lecturer, Mental health expert and Ex. Head of Department, Applied Psychology in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Kampala International University.
Faith has a PhD in Counselling Psychology from Kampala International University. She received her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology in 2012 and a Bachelor's degree of Guidance and Counseling in 2010 respectively from Kampala International University. She is a Certified Professional Counselling psychologist of Uganda Counseling Association.
Dr. Faith Nakalema is an author, Researcher/ Lecturer/ trainer with training in adolescence and youth psychology, marriage and family therapy, grief and trauma at Kampala International University with over 13 years of progressive experience. An agent of change interesting people to embrace authentic success and upright growth in all spheres of emotional, economic, social and cognitive development. She has contributed to the following:-
Conducted a mental health awareness campaign after covid at main campus which created awareness among students and staff hence being empowered psychologically.
Spearheaded the pre-visit assessment at Kitezi Camping site for the survivors, victims and affected people before offering psychological first aid to them after Garbage slides which restored hope in their lives.
Psychologically empowered close to 100 people including children through individual counseling and group counseling who were affected by the landfill.
100 mentor of mentees were equipped by knowledge and skills at mentorship programme at Kyambogo Univesity who mentored the freshers for the academic year 2025/2026
As Ex. Head of Department, she developed and reviewed curricula in the Department of Applied Psychology at Kampala International University, this has attracted a number of students to join the department.
Organized the 1st Uganda Counseling Association Students’ symposium in Uganda at Kampala International University which attracted over 11 universities in Uganda hence marketing the university.
Presented various topics on families, mental health, parenting, sexual and gender based violence in conferences, Workshops and seminars.
Established a Counseling Clinic at Kampala International University and over 1000s of students and staff recieve counseling in a suitable and secure environment.
Trained and mentored Youths online who were empowered with soft skills in Youth Empowerment, Leadership and Entrepreneurship Programme (YELEP)
Organized a mental health conference at Kampala International University where both staff and students through Afro - Arab Council understood the importance of prioritizing mental health.
Graduated over 1000s of students who have created jobs and being placed in high valued organization
Registered Kampala International University as a member for National Association for Social Workers of Uganda (NASWU)
As a counseling Psychologist, she offers consultations, counseling and implement individualized/ group Psychological treatment by providing assessment, diagnosis and treatment of more severe psychological symptoms as result of grief, family, parenting, trauma, addiction, work-related stress, HIV/AIDS related issues and child-parent conflicts which promotes psychological well-being.
She is fully prepared to shape the community, the minds of current and future students as the Institution continues to explore the heights in Africa and beyond.
