Mr. Ssemuyiga Charles is a Lecturer in the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences, School of Natural Sciences at Kampala International University.
With a diverse academic background encompassing Microbiology, Oncology, Immunology, and Bioinformatics, he brings knowledge and practical experience to both classroom and research endeavors.
He earned a Master's degree in Microbiology from the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University, complementing his Bachelor of Science degree in Biotechnology from Makerere University.
Before his role at Kampala International University, Mr. Ssemuyiga Charles served as a Research Associate at Makerere University within the Department of Microbiology, Biotechnology, and Plant Sciences. Additionally, he contributed to research efforts at the Cancer Biology Lab and Bioinformatics Lab at KIIT University's School of Biotechnology in Odisha, Bhubaneswar, India.
He has worked on several virology and cancer projects including SARS-COV-2, Respiratory Syncytial
virus (RSV), Hepatitis C Virus (HCV), and Monkeypox Virus, among others to develop new therapeutics using Artificial Intelligence, Bioinformatics, and Immunoinformatics coupled with cutting edge techniques Biology techniques.
Active within academic circles, Mr. Ssemuyiga Charles maintains membership in prestigious organizations such as the Microbiology Society, the American Society for Microbiology (ASM), and
the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC). He is proficient in a range of bioinformatics software tools and is an editor at the Journal of Food Science and Applied Microbiology.
Mr. Ssemuyiga Charles is deeply committed to advancing the fields of Virology and Oncology through his innovative teaching methods and cutting-edge research contributions.
