Jamila Abdullahi (Ph.D.) is a senior lecturer in the Faulty of Science and Technology, Department of Basic Sciences. she studied in the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Nigeria where she got a BSc in zoology (1985), MSc crop Protection (1994) and Ph.D. crop Protection (2012). she has been lecturing in institutions of higher learning for more than 20 years. Over the years she acquired additional qualifications in research methodology, computer science, Locust and grasshopper control, workplace safety, HIV/AIDs, special education and entrepreneur development. she received a grant by the McArthur foundation for her Ph.D. dissertation completion.
She has taught different courses over the years including Genetics, evolution, entomology, parasitology, household pests, pest management, plants and their functions, cell biology, food and crop storage, entrepreneurship development and environmental sciences. she has been involved in a lot of community services in Nigeria, Uganda, and the USA. Her present area of research interest include nutrition for optimum health, women in agriculture, food security, neglected and underutilized foods, locust and grasshopper control strategies use of plant and other natural products for health and pest control
She has published in journals in Nigeria, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States. she has attended conferences, workshops, and symposia in Nigeria, Uganda, France, Ghana and Malawi where she presented papers. she has traveled to a number of countries in both personal and professional capacity including Ghana, Malawi, France, United Kingdom, United States of America, Niger Republic, United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. her interests include traveling and reading
