TUMWEBAZE CALLIST ia a Lecturer at Kampala International University (KIU), College of Education, Open and Distance Learning. He is also a Guest Lecturer at the St. Augustine University in Tanzania. Callist served as a Tutorial Assistant from 2006 to 2009 in the Department of Psychology at Trinity College Dublin, and as a Part-time Lecturer at the Waterford Institute of Technology in Ireland.
Callist holds a PhD in Psychology from the University of Dublin Trinity Colege in Ireland which he obtained in 2009. He also possesses an M.Ed in Pyschology and a Bachelor of Arts with Education (Literature and English Language Studies) which he obtained from Makerere University in 2002 and 1998 respectively. From 2000 to 2006, Callist gained experience as an Assistant Lecturer at the Makerere University School of Education and Institute of Psychology where he taught psychology courses, conducted undergraduate research supervision, and acted as the Chairman on the Academic Steering Board of National Curriculum Development Centre for a period of one year.
He has attended conferences and workshops including the 2013 Eastern Africa Regional conference of Psychology (EARCP) that took place at the. Silver Springs Hotel in Kampala-Uganda, the 2011 Training course in PhD supervision and Mentorship at Hotel Africana in Kampala-Uganda organised by Makerere University, School of Graduate Studies, and the 6th International Conference on Psychotherapy held at Makerere University, Kampala in 2010. Callist has also carried out research projects including a 2010 project entitled “Aid Discrepancies and Development Workers’ Performance (ADD-UP) funded by ESRC/DFID, and a 2003 research proposal submitted to OSSREA-Ethiopia for funding entitled ‘The Educational Reform Policy and Academic Performance:
An implication for commitment and attitudes of teachers towards UPE implementation’ he has taken part in a number of consultancies including Designing of Training Needs Assessment tools for Pathfinder International in 2001, Designing of Evaluation instruments for Socio-Behavioural Research Centre (SBRC).in 2000, and Teaching Research Methods course at Carter Centre in Kampala form June to December 2003.
Callist has published and co-published articles in journals including the Journal of Organisational Psychology, and the International Journal of Psychology.
He has offered his service to the community in various ways, some of which include acting as an external examiner for Kyambogo University’s Department of Psychology since 2010, serving as a church leader for Mbuya Catholic church since 2011, and doing lots of needs assessment activities and trained various professionals in almost all districts in Uganda
Callist is also a proud member of the Uganda National Psychological Association (UNPA), the Uganda Society of Applied Psychologists (USAP), and the Organisation of Humanitarian Work Psychologists
