Academic Programmes

Law, LL.M

About the Programme

The LL.M Program leads to the award of specialized and non-specialized degrees in areas of interest to the student. The program is designed to deepen the student’s knowledge in a specific area of law. The program will boost the career aspirations of students in academia or legal practice. The available specializations are commercial law, criminal law and criminology, natural resources, public international law, and a general master of laws degree. The Program is undertaken over four semesters, during which students must do the core courses relevant to their specializations. Each specialty has its own number of required academic courses and credits for successful completion. In addition to the core courses, students may choose any other courses depending on their preference, as long as they are able to earn the required credit units over four semesters. Students are required to produce a thesis under the supervision of at least, a senior lecturer from the KIU school of Law, or any other University approved by Senate.
