KIU, Main Campus - KIU Law Society put up a masterful spectacle to progress to the finals of the 2021 Inter-University Law Societies soccer gala at Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) female campus in Kabojja on Saturday 23rd October 2021.

KIU beat Uganda Christian University 2-0 in the opening match before goalless draws against IUIU Kampala Campus and Cavendish Universities led them to a second-place finish in group B. 

This saw them meet Uganda Pentecostal University in the semifinals. With precision, confidence and teamwork, KIU eliminated the outright favourite to reach the finals.

IUIU beat Makerere University in spot-kicks in the semifinals before progressing to the final which was postponed to Wednesday, October 27th due to time. 

The Kibuli-based side will meet KIU, a team whose worth they tested in their second group stage match that ended in a goalless draw on Saturday.

Justice Club Ochieng, the Sports Minister, acknowledged the fact that his team played beyond the expectations of the opponents who saw KIU as an underdog before kickoff.

"Many of the other teams came thinking team KIU was an underdog but thanks to the boys for proving them wrong and I hope we shall bring the trophy home," he said.

The final will be played in Kibuli at 4 pm on Wednesday 27 January 2021.

The Inter-university law Society Soccer gala is an annual one-day tournament organized by the Uganda National Law Students Association to bring together students of law from different Universities in Uganda. 

This year's gala attracted eight Universities that included, Uganda Pentecostal University(UPU), Uganda Christian University(UCU), Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), which was represented by the Kampala and Mbale campuses, Makerere University, Cavendish University and Kampala International University.
