KIU, Main Campus - While addressing the nation on COVID-19 on Tuesday,
President Yoweri Museveni said that he will be giving new guidelines after the
Ministry of Health concludes a study and assessment of the prevalence of
COVID-19 in communities which will be released on 4th May.
“Our team of experts are studying the situation intensely
and we shall give you new guidelines and way forward before the date of May 5
comes. But this will be determined by the study, not suppositions, not just
imposing things on the situation," the President offered.
The survey which was flagged off by the Ministry of Health
on Tuesday targets populations including market vendors, truck drivers and
communities along their routes, border crossing points, local communities and
health workers among others.
He also appreciated Ugandans for responding positively to
the presidential directives and measures that were given by the Ministry of
Health.
Further, Museveni said that he would take a pay cut of his salary and donate part of his salary to the National COVID-19 Response Fund to fight against COVID-19.
Uganda has confirmed 81 cases of COVID-19 with 52 recoveries
and 0 deaths
