KIU, Main Campus - Six members of the KIU Debate Union are this evening (25th March 25, 2021) travelling to Ishaka to face the Western Campus debate team (Timeless Mission) in a friendly debate contest as part of the main activities of the much-anticipated get-together dinner set for Saturday, March 27 at Belline Hotel in Ishaka town.

Led by their President, John Guest Kisembo, the main campus team that set off from Kampala aboard Global Coaches is expected to arrive in Ishaka town at around 8 pm in the evening. Other members that have travelled include Sarah Kenyana, Doreen Ainembabazi, Jonathan Areeba, Joanita Ngabirano and Evas Kyomugisha.

Ainembazi, the outgoing president of the KIU debate union said that an invitation by the KIU western campus for a friendly match was one thing they could never miss. She added that the whole team was particularly grateful not just for the friendly match but the honour to glorify their get- together dinner.

‘’We were extremely happy to receive an invitation for a friendly match by the western campus debate team but most importantly the whole team feels honoured to grace such an important ceremony,’’ Ainembabazi said shortly before departure.

Kisembo, the Union’s outgoing president said the friendly match will help create a strong bond between the two teams. He also thanked the University administration for providing a favourable platform for future intellectuals.

Timeless Mission, which has played a pivotal role in advocating for youth empowerment amongst students in all universities in Uganda through debate and public speaking, will also use the event as an inauguration ceremony.
