KIU, Main Campus - Gwaita Adam, a graduate student of ICT and a midfielder for the KIU football team, is looking forward to putting into practice everything he watches about Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo. He says the Portuguese star is the most vivid evidence that hard work really pays.

Despite drawing inspiration from his brother, a soccer coach at Bright Stars FC and Manchester City’s Belgian midfielder Kevin Debruyne being his most favourite soccer player, Gwaita wants to manage his life like Cristiano Ronaldo whom he says works hard to remain at the top.

"I want to be the best that’s why I admire Ronaldo. He is a hard-working man and that has kept him on top," Gwaita admits.

Gwaita has also tasted the fruits of hardwork. His positive work ethic enabled Basoga Nseete to claim the 2019 inter-cultural soccer tournament. He was also instrumental during the School of Computing and Information Technology’s back-to-back triumphs in the interfaculty games between 2019 and 2020.

As a result, Gwaita was called up to the university football team and has been a reliable and dependable member since 2019. He likes to play his midfield like Manchester city’s Kevin Debruyne although he admires Arsenal.

‘’It is simply hard work that has kept my position in that team and I am still working hard to remain at the top,’’ he says.

Apart from playing for the university team, Gwaita plays for Buyukwe Red Stars. He says the team identified him while playing for KIU during the Pepsi-Inter University League. He also attributes it to hard work and KIU for exploiting and exposing his talent.

Gwaita, who started playing football as early as 2007 while in primary five, is looking forward to becoming an international star in the next five years. His major aim is to make money from his passion. His dream soccer club is English premier league side Arsenal FC.
