KIU Organizes 3-Day Research and Publication Training for Final Year Undergraduate Students

Kampala International University (KIU) through the Directorate of Research, Innovation, Consultancy and Extension (DRICE) has organized a 3-day training on Research Publication as a Measure of Academic Performance Index for Final Year Undergraduate students. 

The training which started on 14th February 2023 will end on 17th February 2023 and aims at sensitizing final-year students of KIU on the benefits of Research and Publications, how to write good papers for publication, different types of Journal Publications, how to make research papers visible, how to be good scholars among others.

According to the Head of Department Publications and Extensions at KIU who is also the lead facilitator for this program Dr. Ugwu Okechuckwu Paul Chima, the training will prepare and motivate final-year students to pick an interest in doing research while still at the undergraduate level.

‘’ The training will also seek to prepare students for postgraduate level and other careers,”

Dr. Esther U. Alum, the assistant head of department, Publications says that students will also get a chance to be trained in; Steps to follow to produce a Journal article that can be publishable in a high-impact academic journal, the Importance of publishing and getting citations as individuals and institutions, Common reasons for rejecting of articles/research papers by academic journals and the importance of having a google-scholar and research gate account as a scholar.

Other facilitators for the training include the assistant Head of Department, Publications Unit, Western Campus Dr. Emmanuel Ifeanyi Obeagu, and Eng. Dr. Udoka Valentine Eze the publications officer, KIU Western Campus.
